Winston S. Churchill — The Unrelenting Struggle (War Speeches)
Cassell & Co., London — Fourth Edition (August 1946)
A vintage collection of Churchill’s wartime speeches delivered between November 1940 and March 1941, compiled by Charles Eade. These addresses—broadcasts, House of Commons speeches, and public tributes—capture the urgency, resolve, and rhetorical force of Churchill during Britain’s darkest hours.
Original blue cloth with gilt spine titles. Five half-tone plates, including frontispiece portrait of Churchill.
This edition bears the wartime “Book Production War Economy Standard” imprint, reflecting Britain’s material conditions in WWII and post-war austerity.
Condition:
Very Good.
Cloth clean with only light rubbing at edges; gilt bright. Pages lightly toned as expected for age. Early ink ownership to front endpaper. Binding strong and square. No dust jacket.
A well-preserved example of one of the key volumes in Churchill’s war-speech series — an authentic piece of mid-century history and a desirable reading and display copy.
